‘Like a rabbit in the headlights’: A psychoanalytically oriented exploration of performance anxiety in professional musicians

Abstract: Performance anxiety is a significant professional problem among musicians. A psychoanalytically oriented qualitative research design was employed to explore the psychological realities of six professional musicians from various genres, including classical, folk, jazz, and crossover music.
