The grid to vehicle context in this report referred to the current status of the vehicle charging system that supported by the grid and its implication to the grid. The electric vehicle also can be exploited and treated as the mobile energy storage that has the capability to inject the power back to the grid. The idea of transfer back power the grid from electric vehicle is commonly known as V2G. In total, the cumulative horse power that millions vehicle have are tens times larger than the total of all electricity generating capacity in the world. However, due to the technical issue, the vehicle potential could not be tap to contribute to the grid until the birth of current concept of so called V2G. V2G is relatively a new technological breakthrough, which not only support the grid but also could potentially accelerate the process of creating a smarter grid.

Abstract:The linear rail transit system (LRTS) has the advantages such as high performance, low construction cost, easy maintenance, friendly with the environment, the researchers all over the world therefore has focused their interests on the LRTS. Despite its late start, China is marking a rapid progress on the study of the linear rail transit system. The LRTS in China can be divided into two types: maglev train system and the linear metro system. This article will revolve around the two aspects above to address the develop status and the newly research progress of the LRST in China. Meanwhile, the article also presents the research progress of the high-temperature superconducting (HTS) linear motors used for LRTS.

A novel permanent-magnet (PM) linear motor which composes of two isolated movers and one single stator is proposed in this paper. It is suitable for tasks requiring multiple drive motors. Each mover can produce independent force and flexible motions by interacting with the stator poles. Compared with conventional multi-motor driven system, it achieves more compact size, and thus increases the system force density. The design concept is presented. To facilitate fabrication and installation, the flat type PM linear motor with two isolated movers is proposed. The magnetic field model is formulated by using equivalent magnetic circuit (EMC) method. The influence of magnetization pattern and back iron is included in the analysis. Numerical computation is carried out to verify the analytical model. Comparison shows that the analytical model and finite element analysis (FEA) result match well. The employment of same-magnetization pattern and back iron helps to improve the force output. The similar concept of multi-mover and single-stator can be implemented into other electromagnetic machines.Index Terms -Linear motor, magnetic circuit, permanent magnet, finite element analysis.
