Linear Programming-Based Power Management for a Multi-Feeder Ultra-Fast DC Charging Station

Abstract: The growing number of electric vehicles (EVs) affects the national electricity system in terms of power demand and load variation. Turning our attention to Italy, the number of vehicles on the road is 39 million; this represents a major challenge, as they will need to be recharged constantly when the transition to electric technology is complete. If we consider that the average power is 55 GW and the installed system can produce 120 GW of peak power, we can calculate that with only 5% of vehicles in recharging… Show more

“…Our article is focused on the Russian economy, but for greater interest, we can consider continuing this research in the economy of charging electric vehicles, where Europe is very interested. The energy price is contractual and depends on the request and the energy management system for both cost containment and energy demand, which may not be enough, for example, in Europe [37,38].…”

“…Various microgrid optimization techniques can be used, including probabilistic [41,42], artificial intelligence [43,44], iterative [45,46], and deterministic techniques [47][48][49]. Luigi Rubino et al [50] use linear programming method-based power management for a multifeeder ultra-fast DC charging station.…”

“…A microgrid is generally composed of renewable and non-renewable distributed energy resources (DER), such as photovoltaic (PV) array units, back-up generators, and battery storage units. These DERs can be used to facilitate different technologies, including electric vehicles (EV) [1]. Microgrids leverage smart sensor technologies, such as advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) to record and transmit power estimation data to a central data concentrator [2].…”
