Linguistic Agency Assignment

Abstract: In linguistics, “agency assignment” refers to the verbal ascription of action in words to one or more entities in the discourse context. Agency assignment is a fundamental feature of language that can be manipulated to augment the persuasive impact of health messaging. It also serves as a linguistic marker of affective experience in people's spontaneous descriptions of health and illness.
