“…In addition, a systematic variation of mixture components to evaluate the impact of carbon-chain length, branching, or hydroxylation is required so that the scientific findings can be directly transferred to other fluid mixtures. While experimental data for hydrocarbon-based binary mixtures are available in the literature, the investigated temperatures are often limited to 400 K and no such systematic variations are available. …”

“…Many researchers have reported the viscosities of biodiesels/diesel mixtures at atmospheric pressure. In addition, n -hexadecane is usually considered as the reference substance to model the property of diesel; the reason is that the cetane number of n -hexadecane is similar to diesel. Therefore, several researchers also carried out the investigation of the viscosity of n -hexadecane/biodiesel (or its pure components) mixtures at ambient pressure. However, in the engine, the injection pressure of the fuel is usually about 15–50 MPa and the temperature is about 300–350 K. In this regard, investigation of the high-pressure viscosity of biodiesels/diesel mixtures is essential. Ethyl octanoate is a kind of medium-chain fatty acid ethyl esters.…”
