LncRNA OIP5-AS1 promotes the malignancy of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma via regulating miR-429/FOXD1/ERK pathway

Abstract: Background Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), a subtype of pancreatic cancer, is a malignant tumor with unfavorable prognosis. Despite accumulating researches have made efforts on finding novel therapeutic methods for this disease, the underlying mechanism of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) remains elusive. OIP5 antisense RNA 1 (OIP5-AS1) has been reported to play important role in the occurrence and development of multiple human cancers. This study was aimed at unveiling the regulatory role … Show more

“… 10 LncRNA OIP5-AS1 overexpression contributes to proliferation, migration, and invasion in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. 11 In addition, LINC01614 upregulation sponges miR-383 to promote glioma growth and invasion by affecting ADAM12 expression. 12 Therefore, illustrating the biological roles and molecular mechanisms of lncRNAs is of important significance.…”

“…OIP5-AS1 may sponge miR-34a, and then upregulate the expression of its downstream target snail, thereby promoting invasion and migration of OC cells. OIP5-AS1 has been characterized as an oncogenic lncRNA in many types of cancer [16][17][18]. In lung cancer, OIP5-AS1 targets miR-448 and Bcl-2 to regulate the proliferation and apoptosis of cancer cells [14].…”

“…LncRNAs are abnormally expressed in a variety of human malignant tumors, and these abnormally expressed LncRNAs can be used as biomarkers for early clinical diagnosis. Recently, it has found that OIP5-AS1, as a novel lncRNA, is abnormally expressed in multiple tumors and can be used as a clinical biomarker for liver hepatocellular carcinoma and adenocarcinoma [ 16 , 17 ]. However, its expression pattern and biological role in OC have not been well studied.…”

“…The knockdown of OIP5-AS1 inhibited the proliferation, invasion and migration of ovarian cancer cells, and promoted the apoptosis of ovarian cancer cells to a certain extent. OIP5-AS1 has been identi ed as an oncogene of human diseases in a variety of cancer cells, such as breast cancer cells [30] , non-small cell lung cancer cells [5] , pancreatic ductal carcinoma cells [29] , and multiple myeloma cells [28] .…”

“…Moreover, lncRNAs play their roles through a variety of complex molecular mechanisms [20] , such as affecting the epigenetic activity of tumor cells in the nucleus, gene transcription and post-transcriptional modi cation of mRNA [2] . LncRNA OIP5-AS1 has been reported to inhibit the proliferation of multiple malignant tumors [29,28] . It can regulate a variety of biological activities of cells in some diseases and tumors.…”
