Abstract. This paper presents a model-based approach which efficiently retrieves correct hypotheses using properties of triangles formed by the triplets of minutiae as the basic representation unit. We show that the uncertainty of minutiae locations associated with feature extraction and shear does not affect the angles of a triangle arbitrarily. Geometric constraints based on characteristics of minutiae are used to eliminate erroneous correspondences. We present an analysis to characterize the discriminating power of our indexing approach. Experimental results on fingerprint images of varying quality show that our approach efficiently narrows down the number of candidate hypotheses in the presence of translation, rotation, scale, shear, occlusion and clutter.

Automatic identification of humans based on their fingerprints is still one of the most reliable identification methods in criminal and forensic applications, and is widely applied in civil applications as well. Most automatic systems available today use distinctive fingerprint features called minutiae for fingerprint comparison. Conventional feature extraction algorithm can produce a large number of spurious minutiae if fingerprint pattern contains large regions of broken ridges (often called creases). This can drastically reduce the recognition rate in automatic fingerprint identification systems. We can say that for performance of those systems it is more important not to extract spurious (false) minutia even though it means some genuine might be missing as well. In this paper multiscale directional information obtained from orientation field image is used to filter those spurious minutiae, resulting in multiple decrease of their number.

Pandemic has impacted many areas of life and led to the development of much new behaviour due to people's efforts to adapt, including adaptation in the workplace. The WFO (Work from Office) and WFH (Work from Home) rules will be enforced during the Covid-19, and this is one of the adaptive steps taken. Some employees are required to work from the office, while others are allowed to work from home under this rule. The author aimed to investigate the development of a microcontroller-based dynamic archive security system to address archive security during the WFH and WFO periods. With security system, the goal was to develop security tools that can serve two functions simultaneously, namely protecting data from loss while making it easier for workers to access the dynamic archives they need. This research was conducted by using research and development methods and the object of research was education staff at the Faculty of Economics, UNNES, using research and development strategies, this study succeeded in making a Dynamic Archive Security System product based on Biometric System Identification. Suggestions in this research on security systems can also be added with variations with RFID cards or NFC cards to implement various security systems.
