Logistics Performance and ICT-Driven Sustainability in the MENA Region

Abstract

The pursuit of environmental sustainability has become imperative in today's world. This chapter aims to investigate the impact of the logistic performance index and ICT on the MENA region's environmental sustainability from 2012 to 2023. Using static as FE-DK and dynamic panel as System GMM model estimation, the results indicate that fossil fuel consumption with enhanced logistic performance negatively impacts environmental sustainability in MENA regions in the presence of foreign direct investment inflow, economic growth, and rapid urbanization. Results also suggest that ICT also causes degradation of the environment in the MENA region; therefore, the MENA region should prioritize attracting green and sustainable foreign investments while transitioning towards cleaner energy sources.
