Long non-coding RNA p53 upregulated regulator of p53 levels (PURPL) promotes the development of gastric cancer

Abstract: Gastric cancer (GC), one of the most prevalent malignancies across the world, has an increasing incidence rate. Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) PURPL (also referred to as LINC01021) has been demonstrated to influence malignant GC behaviors and partake in other cancers. Notwithstanding, reports pertaining to the underlying mechanism of PURPL in GC haven’t been rarely seen. Presently, in-vivo and ex-vivo experiments were implemented to examine the PURPL-miR-137-ZBTB7A-P… Show more

“…Interestingly, the 3 long non-coding RNA molecules were expressed by a large percentage of patients (88%, 85%, 83% respectively) whereas the expression of PURPL and LINC01239 was almost absent in healthy donors. Mechanistically, of the 3 non-coding RNA genes, PURPL is the only one that has been thoroughly studied and is implicated in the pathogenesis of several solid malignancies by interfering with crucial signaling cascades and pathways ( 40 , 63 66 ).…”

“…Some of them, for instance, ENSG00000289474, with a 12-fold reduction in its expression in PAD patients with DM, might be of interest to be further investigated. Many of the remaining lncRNAs, such as LINC01220, CYTOR, LINC00910, LINC00511, PURPL, and MZF1-AS1, have been described in association with different types of cancer 30 35 . Interestingly, the expression changes were associated mainly with cell proliferation and migration of the tumour cells.…”

“…All of which lacking studies in PC. Nonetheless, LINC02575 has been found to be implicated in proliferation of laryngeal squamous cell carcinomas 70 ; PURPL was indicated to have an involvement in ovarian and gastric cancers 7173 ; and AL035425.3 was suggested to be implicated in the prognosis of triple negative breast cancer 74 .…”
