Long noncoding RNA MNX1‐AS1 contributes to lung cancer progression through the miR‐527/BRF2 pathway

Abstract: Lung cancer belongs to a leading popular and malignant cancer around the world. However, the root mechanism underlying lung cancer progression remains unclear. Recently, long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) has been identified as important for tumorigenesis. LncRNA MNX1‐AS1 is proven to regulate colon adenocarcinoma, cervical cancer, glioblastoma, and ovarian cancer. Whether MNX1‐AS1 participates in lung cancer needs investigation. In our research, we found that MNX1‐AS1 was dramatically upregulated in lung cancer. MNX… Show more

“…LncRNAs are reported to exert their roles in the cytoplasm of tumor cells via involving in ceRNA crosstalk [17][18][19] . To probe the position of PITPNA-AS1 in HCC cells, we performed fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) and subcellular fractionation experiments.…”

“…A total of 882 patients from the all eligible articles were included to evaluate prognostic value of MNX1-AS1 (presented in Table 1). All articles covered gastric cancer(GC) (n = 3) [8][9][10], lung cancer (LC) (n = 3) [6,20,21], other cancer(n = 3) including: esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), cervical cancer (CC), epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) [14,18,22].…”

“…Moreover, MNX1-AS1 could competitively bind to miRNA to regulate related gene or protein expression [13,23]. Additionally, MNX1-AS1 also activates oncogenic pathways including MAPK, BRF2, and AKT/mTOR pathways [7,18,21]. Taken together, MNX1-AS1 usually regulates with other relevant genes or proteins and cooperates to exert oncogenic functions through involving the carcinogenic signaling pathways.…”

“…A, RT-qPCR was used to detect miR-516b and miR-527 expression after transfection in LN229 cells. Liu et al 28 demonstrated that long noncoding RNA MNX1-AS1 upregulates BRF2 expression to contribute to cell progression through sponging miR-527. C, CCK-8 assays were used to evaluate cell viability after transfection in LN229 cells.…”

“…27 miR-527 was previously reported to be a tumor-suppressive miRNA in lung cancer. Liu et al 28 demonstrated that long noncoding RNA MNX1-AS1 upregulates BRF2 expression to contribute to cell progression through sponging miR-527. Likewise, our data also confirmed that miR-516b and miR-527 were tumor suppressors in GM.…”
