Long Noncoding RNA PVT1 Facilitates Cervical Cancer Progression via Negative Regulating of miR-424

Abstract: Emerging evidence suggests that the long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) plasmacytoma variant translocation 1 (PVT1) gene is involved in the pathogenesis of cervical cancer. However, the potential mechanism is rarely reported. Our study found that PVT1 was upregulated in cervical cancer tissue and cell lines. After transfecting PVT1 siRNA, the proliferation, migration, and invasion of cervical cancer cells were markedly decreased. miRNA expression profiles demonstrate that miR-424 was markedly downregulated in cervical… Show more

“…Clinically, the aberrant overexpression of CASC9 was correlated with the clinical of glioma patients, implying the tumour promoting biomarker of CASC9. More than CASC9, numerous of lncRNAs have been identified to be aberrantly overexpressed in human tumourous tissue, acting as the oncogenic molecular, such as PVT1, UCA1, CCAT2 et al Similar to this finding, our results also discover this worthy conclusion.…”

“…Various miRNA have been demonstrated to be involved in a variety of cellular biological processes, including cell proliferation, differentiation, survival, migration and invasion (8,(11)(12)(13). Additionally, a large number of miRNA, including miR-181 (14), -186 (15), -126 (16) and -424 (17), have been reported to serve promoting or suppressive roles in tumor growth and metastasis of various human malignances, such as cervical cancer.…”

“…Among the candidate biomarkers we obtained, some of which have been confirmed, might serve as fingerprint for CC diagnosis. For example, serum PVT1 level is significantly increased in CC patients and correlated with tumor size, clinical stage, and lymph node metastasis of CC [26]. Circulating PVT1 could be used as a novel noninvasive biomarker for CC with the AUC range from 0.758 to 0.892 in different cohort [27].…”
