Long-range surface magnetoplasmon on thin plasmon films in the Voigt configuration

Abstract: This study elucidates the characteristics of a long-range surface magnetoplasmon (LRSMP) that propagates on a plasmon film with the Voigt configuration. Particle-in-cell (PIC) simulations and theoretical analyses are performed. Simulation results indicate that LRSMP has non-symmetrical fields. The proposed scheme also verifies the non-reciprocal properties of LRSMP as the direction of an applied external magnetic field is reversed. When surface waves propagate on a plasmon film across an interface on one side … Show more

Recently, with the push of plasmonics, there has been a renewed interest of the effect of the magnetic fi eld on SPPs, now focused on SPPs supported by metals.…”

“…In 2010, Lan et al developed a long-range SMPs waveguide consists of an InSb film with the Voigt geometry [64]. The nonreciprocal effects, similar to that of SMPs on a plane surface, can be found in the waveguide, as shown in Figure 3.…”

“…For a review on magneto-plasmonics see 34,35 . Magneto-plasmonic waveguides consisting of insulatormetal-insulator (IMI) geometry with a ferromagnetic metal surrounded by nonmagnetic dielectrics 36 or a nonmagnetic metal bounded by ferromagnetic dielectrics 37 have been studied for application as active devices in SPP-based optics. MIM cavities with magnetic metals have been studied in 38 where it was observed that the magnetic modulation of SPP is higher when only one of the metallic interfaces is magnetic.…”
