Low-Complexity Filter for Software-Defined Radio by Modulated Interpolated Coefficient Decimated Filter in a Hybrid Farrow

Abstract: Realising a low-complexity Farrow channelisation algorithm for multi-standard receivers in software-defined radio is a challenging task. A Farrow filter operates best at low frequencies while its performance degrades towards the Nyquist region. This makes wideband channelisation in software-defined radio a challenging task with high computational complexity. In this paper, a hybrid Farrow algorithm that combines a modulated Farrow filter with a frequency response interpolated coefficient decimated masking filt… Show more

“…It is important for solutions to be able to give prospective needs for these models in the design of any SDR system for wireless applications. Channel coding [23], data modulation [24], channel estimation [25], and symbol equalisation [26], are all part of this digital base band processing. Most radio system operations were originally realised using analogue circuitry until digital signal processing technology was introduced.…”

“…In [32] provides baseband solution for an SDR system that can process all physical layer computations in software and formulate a 2Mbps WCDMA with GSM/GPRS and 802.11b with improved capability. The baseband units are completely controlled by interlocked instruction execution to enable its compatibility towards any next generation wireless communication system [33].…”
