Low Molecular Weight Heparins

Abstract: The incidence of pulmonary embolism (PE) and venous thromboembolism (VTE) is higher in pregnant patients than in non-pregnant patients. The incidence of thrombosis in all pregnancies is reported to be between 0.05 and 1%, and an incidence as high as 3% may be present in women after caesarean section. Anticoagulant medication is prescribed during pregnancy in patients presenting with VTE, thrombophilia abnormalities, or a history of PE or VTE. Since unfractionated heparin (UH) does not cross the placental barri… Show more

“…The PPs were largely negative for FB; however, some showed a peripheral halo-like labeling. In hypoxic/ischemic liver disease, secondary to a reduced cardiac output, a rapid decrease in the serum FB ensued with a parallel increase in the liver FB due to a higher production of FB (and other APPs) in the hepatocytes [49]. The high prevalence of the FB-positive IGEs observed in this study and the increased FB expression recorded after a variety of liver injuries lends support to a non-specific hepatic injury response mechanism hypothesis [50].…”

“…LMWH is also less likely to induce thrombocytopenia [18]. LMWH inhibits factor Xa more effectively than factor IIa to produce its antithrombotic effect [19]. LMWH does not cross the placenta and is safe for the fetus [20,21].…”

“…Moreover, the pearson correlation coefficients (r) between anti‐Xa assay and APTT was calculated 0.389, while between Pep2 @ AuNC / TPE ‐ Pep1 test strip and APTT that was 0.36, implying the low correlation between APTT and the two methods. This can be explained that LMWH do not modify APTT, [ 4,49 ] which is not directly related with LMWH . Consequently, the testing results of Pep2 @ AuNC / TPE ‐ Pep1 for real samples corresponded well with the clinical data.…”
