Abstract:Background: Neonaticide is the leading cause of death for infants younger than 24 hours. Since Safe Haven laws have been in place, a large reduction in infant deaths has occurred. A literature review concluded that many healthcare staff members are unknowledgeable regarding Safe Haven infants, laws, and surrendering events. This lack of knowledge could lead to delayed care and poor patient outcomes.
