<title>Performance optimization of synchrotron light sources</title>

Abstract: This paper will present work done at the NSLS to tailor the electron beam properties so as to maximize the performance of the photon beamlines. The electron beam properties of most importance to photon users are the total stored current, emittance, lifetime, and transverse stability. Recent and planned improvements in each of these properties will be discussed as well as the ultimate limits for each.
