LTCC Flow Sensor with RFID Interface

Abstract: The idea of battery-less flow sensors and their implementation in wireless measurement systems is presented in this research article. The authors take advantage of their latest achievements in the Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramic (LTCC) technology, RadioFrequency Identification (RFID) technique, and increasing availability of low power electronics in order to get rid of the need to use electrochemical cells in a power supply unit of the elaborated device. To reach this assumption, special care has to be put on… Show more

“…Examples include smart sensors for automatic inventory checking, gas or water meters in residential basements, and pet or personal asset trackers. The other includes Near Field Communication (NFC) [48], Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) [49], Bluetooth [50], and Zigbee [51], which are mainly used in short-distance communication scenarios, such as mobile payment, home automation, and personal consumer electronics. Different networks have different bandwidth, propagation delay, and link quality.…”

“…On the other hand, the modern RFID technology provides the ability to modify data in the transponders' internal memory in accordance with consumer requirements. Intelligent implementations can even learn about the environment by gathering data with a variety of sensors embedded in the structure of the sempassive RFID transponders [27,28]. This feature, which is still not used in automated identification systems, has been implemented in the presented application of PV panel supervising.…”
