Luteolin-Fabricated ZnO Nanostructures Showed PLK-1 Mediated Anti-Breast Cancer Activity

Abstract: The present work describes a facile and convenient procedure for synthesizing zinc oxide nanoparticles using luteolin isolated from Eclipta alba plant (L-ZnONPs) at room temperature. The formation of as-grown L-ZnONPs was confirmed by X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), and selected area electron diffraction (SAED). The Wurtzite structure of ZnO was observed by its hexagonal phas… Show more

“…77 Shiva Prasad Kollur et al studied luteolin-fabricated ZnO nanostructures exhibiting PLK-1 mediated anti-breast cancer activity, which was superior to the activity exerted by each of the two components when tested individually. 78 International Journal of Nanomedicine 2023:18 Curcumin is an active ingredient of dietary spice that has various pharmacological properties including anticancer activity and has been used recently in breast cancer treatment. Curcumin conjugated with poly-glycerol-malic aciddodecanedioic acid (PGMD) NPs resulted in a formulation with increased anticancer activity compared to that of curcumin alone.…”

“…High levels of PLK1 are restricted to actively dividing cells such as embryonic cells and hair follicles [ 11 ]. Elevated levels of PLK1 are also observed in different cancers, including NB, breast, colorectal, melanoma, prostate, ovarian, esophageal, and non-small-cell lung cancer [ 12 , 13 , 14 , 15 , 16 ].…”
