“…[247,248] Additionally, antibody-functionalized superparamagnetic beads have been used to isolate rare cells from whole blood samples on microfluidic platforms. [249,250] Poudineh et al developed a unique microfluidic chip architecture that separates circulating tumor cells (CTCs) based on the level of interaction of antibody-functionalized magenetic beads within these cells. This device enabled phentoypic profiling of the CTCs in samples as dilute as 10 CTCs per mL of blood.…”

“…Certain nanocarriers, such as dye-based NPs, can be used for both diagnosis and therapy. [492,493] Many drug delivery platforms are designed Cancers [10,152,159,160,177,222,229,249,269,305,[368][369][370][371][372] to respond to endogenous and/or exogenous stimuli (e.g., pH, temperature, light, sound, ROS, enzymes, etc.) for controlled drug release.…”

“…Magnetic NPs characterized by having a high biocompatibility, stability, surface-to-volume ratio, binding-capacity and specificity were also successfully conjugated with anti-CD20 antibody to isolate lymphoma cells from biological fluids with an efficiency above the 95% [ 39 ]. At the same time, once functionalized with hyaluronic acids, they bound specifically to CD44 receptors, overexpressed in many types of leukemia and seized cancer cells from plasma samples.…”

“…CD20 antibody (rituximab) has been applied to the treatment of lymphoma but it can also be used for lymphoid neoplasms diagnosis. Sahoo et al ( 2017 ) used avidin-modified magnetic NPs (MNPs) functionalized with biotinylated anti-CD20 antibody and a permanent magnet to specifically detect and isolate lymphoma cells from mixed samples. Capolla and colleagues also used an anti-CD20 antibody functionalized into polymeric-fluorophore Cy5.5-labeled NPs for in vivo imaging directed at the diagnosis of B-cell malignancies.…”
