Lymphoma OR Brucellosis: a Case Series Study

Abstract

Background: As a zoonotic disease, human brucellosis has a wide variety of clinical manifestations, ranging from multisystem involvement to asymptomatic infection. Case Presentation: Cases with hematological abnormalities and lymphadenopathies at a referral unit to a cancer hospital from September 2021 to August 2022 were described. Follow-up and clinical symptoms led to brucellosis being diagnosed. Conclusion: Exist of lymphadenopathies associated with hematological abnormalities led to challenges in our diagnosis, especially the observation of mesenteric and retroperitoneal lymphadenopathies. A proper diagnosis and treatment for brucellosis lead to the complete resolution of lymphadenopathies. As far as we know from the literature, the association of rare symptoms with typical symptoms of brucellosis may be very confusing and delay the diagnosis. Therefore, these case reports can highlight symptoms of brucellosis that mimic a primary hematologic disorder for better and faster diagnosis.
