Abstract:The pupillary light reflex (PLR) involves the retina, brainstem, sympathetic and parasympathetic systems. It is therefore sensitive to a wide array of factors, including not only the neurological state of the patient but also the environment in which it is measured. The PLR is stimulated by using a single light pulse, which yields a complex pupil constriction waveform, that can be characterized by several parameters. To detect a pathological change in the PLR, it is therefore necessary to separate the contribu… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
