Macroscale Thermal Diode-Like Black Box with High Transient Rectification Ratio

Abstract: Based on the transformation thermotics theory, many novel thermal functionalities have been achieved, such as thermal cloaking, concentrating, camouflaging, etc. Here, we propose a kind of macroscale thermal diode-like black box based on two typical outcomes of transformation thermotics-the energy shielding and harvesting units. The proposed macroscale thermal black box, acting as a thermal diode, creates a new record of transient thermal rectification ratio that can be as high as about 50, far breaking the hi… Show more

“…Limited national data are available on how obesity and race/ethnicity may interact with and influence disparities in risk of diabetes and prediabetes. Previous national data on diabetes prevalence by obesity focused more on racial/ethnic subgroups other than Asians and are as-yet absent on Hawaiians/Pacific Islanders and American Indians/Alaskan Natives (8)(9)(10)(11); furthermore, national data on prediabetes by race/ethnicity and obesity are lacking. Understanding the relative contribution of obesity to the racial/ethnic disparities in diabetes and prediabetes may help to inform clinical and public health intervention strategies to mitigate disparities in diabetes and prediabetes and reduce associated complications and mortality.…”

“…More methods [32][33][34][35][36] can be applied to enhance thermal conductivities. Moreover, the scheme can be extended to transient regimes by taking density and heat capacity into account [23,[37][38][39][40][41][42]. The scheme is also not limited to conductive systems.…”

“…Thermal camouflage is broadened by thermal illusion in conduction [20][21][22][23] and convection, 24 which can potentially transform an actual perception into a pre-controlled perception. Thermal meta-devices can also be extended from macroscale 25,26 to microscale. 27,28 At present, one kind of thermal cloak design concept is to calculate material parameters in the case when the cloak' s geometry and dimension are known.…”
