The manuscript reports the synthesis of a polymeric calix[4]resorcinarene catalyst incorporated with N‐propyl sulfamic acid and the catalytic synthesis of 1,8‐dioxo‐octahydroxanthenes by this polymeric catalyst. Highly cross‐linked porous organic polymers as a class of amorphous and nano‐scale porous polymeric networks have been playing a key role in the development of organic synthesis and catalytic systems. The catalyst synthetic steps include (1) the synthesis of calix[4]resorcinarene, (2) polymerization with formaldehyde, (3) modification with 3‐(triethoxysilyl)propylamine (APTES), and finally (4) modification in the presence of chlorosulfonic acid to produce an efficient heterogeneous acidic catalyst for being applied in the condensation reaction of dimedone with divergent aryl aldehydes for synthesizing a series of 1,8‐dioxo‐octahydroxanthenes. This newly synthesized catalyst was characterized by some spectroscopic methods such as Fourier‐Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FT‐IR), elemental analysis (CHNS), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE‐SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), gas adsorption/desorption Brunauer‐Emmett‐Teller (BET) methodology, and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and its recyclability was successfully proved. Solvent‐free conditions, easy reaction handling and work up, mild acidic conditions, green and affordable methodology, gaining high yields of products in short reaction times, and also the catalyst reusability, are the most important advantages of the present method. In this paper, high catalytic activity of 4′,4″‐diformyl dibenzo‐18‐crown‐6 anchored onto the functionalized magnetite hydroxyapatite (γ‐Fe2O3@HAp–Crown) as a new, versatile and magnetically recoverable catalyst, was prepared. It evaluated as phase‐transfer catalyst and molecular host system for nucleophilic substitution reactions of benzyl halides with thiocyanate, cyanide, azide and acetate anions in water. No evidence for the formation of by‐products was observed and the products obtained in pure form without further purification. The nanocomposite was easily removed from solution via application of a magnetic field, allowing straightforward recovery and reuse. The synthesized nanocomposite was characterized by several techniques such as FT‐IR, TGA‐DTG, EDX, XRD, BET, FE‐SEM, TEM and VSM.

This study reports the synthesis and characterization of the novel polyetherimide obtained from a new aromatic dianhydride monomer, 2,6‐bis‐(isobenzofuran‐1,3‐dione‐5‐yl)pyridine, and 2‐(5‐(3,5‐diaminophenyl)‐1,3,4‐oxadiazole‐2‐yl)pyridine (POBD). Magnetite nanoparticles were modified by γ‐glycidoxypropyl trimethoxysilane (GPTMS) to gain a core‐shell structure (Fe3O4@GPTMS). Magnetic nanocomposites (MNCs) containing different wt% of Fe3O4@GPTMS were then prepared. Structure, morphology and magnetic properties of the obtained nanoparticles and MNCs were studied by Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy (FT‐IR), X‐ray diffraction, and vibrating sample magnetometry methods. The capability of MNC 25 wt% to remove Co(II) cations was shown under optimal pH (7.0), contact time (45 min), adsorbent dosage (50 mg) and initial metal ion concentration (3.0 ppm). The adsorption kinetics followed the pseudo‐second‐order kinetic equation and the adsorption isotherm was best described by the Langmuir model with a maximum adsorption capacity of 1.33 mg g−1. According to the thermodynamic study, the adsorption process was spontaneous, endothermic and entropy favored in nature (ΔG = −2.96 kJ mol−1; ΔH = 19.63 kJ mol−1; ΔS = 75.80 J mol−1). The intraparticle diffusion and Boyd kinetic models revealed that the adsorption mechanism is intraparticle diffusion which is controlled by film diffusion. MNC 25 wt% was regenerated by stirring the Co(II)‐complexed adsorbent in an acidic medium for 1 h followed by magnetic decantation and washing steps. The adsorption–desorption cycles were repeated seven times and the re‐generated sorbent was re‐used under optimal conditions. The average extraction efficiency (E%) of the five consecutive runs was 85.8%, indicating the sorbent recovery by 93.5% after five cycles. POLYM.
