Magnetically separable polymer (Mag-MIP) for selective analysis of biotin in food samples

Abstract: This work presents an efficient method for the preparation of magnetic nanoparticles modified with molecularly imprinted polymers (Mag-MIP) through core-shell method for the determination of biotin in milk food samples. The functional monomer acrylic acid was selected from molecular modeling, EGDMA was used as cross-linking monomer and AIBN as radical initiator. The Mag-MIP and Mag-NIP were characterized by FTIR, magnetic hysteresis, XRD, SEM and N2-sorption measurements. The capacity of Mag-MIP for biotin ads… Show more

“…In the next step, the Fe 3 O 4 @SiO 2 was modified with 3-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (MPS) by dispersing 250 mg of the Fe 3 O 4 @SiO 2 in 50 mL of anhydrous toluene containing 5 mL of MPS. The mixture was allowed to react for 12 h, under nitrogen bubbling, giving rise to the Fe 3 O 4 @SiO 2 -C=C material (Valero-Navarro et al 2011;Hussain et al 2016;Uzuriaga-Sánchez et al 2016). …”

“…There have been relatively few reports of the preparation of polymers imprinted with our chosen templates: fumonisin B2 MIPs for solid-phase extraction have been prepared by bulk polymerisation in acetonitrile8; glucosamine MIPs, prepared in aqueous buffer, have been reported for extraction of the monosaccharide from chicory root9; l -thyroxine-imprinted films have been prepared on electrodes for sensing applications1011; while biotin MIPs have been prepared as sol-gel magnetic core-shell particles12, as thin films1314 and in bulk format15. In contract to these diverse methods of synthesis, the imprinted polymer nanoparticles prepared in this work were all prepared in aqueous media, irrespective of the solubility or otherwise of the template molecules in water.…”

“…1 Recently, with the development of nanotechnology, nanomaterials are widely investigated and applied in many¯elds, such as biomedicine, cosmetics, catalysis, food, textiles, semiconductors, and biomedicines. [2][3][4][5] In addition to occupational exposure, direct human bodies exposures through commercial applications and ambient air pollution were a major concern.…”
