Main Trends in the Development of Military Engineering Machines

Abstract

The article analyzes the main tasks of engineering support of troops. The main characteristics and indicators of military engineering machines of military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and their modern analogues of the leading countries of the world are given. The comparison of their equipment with technical systems of military purpose which were applied at performance of tasks in armed conflicts is carried out. Their capabilities, main advantages and disadvantages are analyzed, taking into account the experience of their application. It is determined which engineering machines are more efficient in terms of functional purpose when used in different conditions of engineering tasks. Based on the analysis, the main directions and trends in the development of military engineering machines are formulated. Conclusions are made about the relevance and expediency of further research and development of military engineering systems. According to the analysis of directions of development of engineering machines of the developed countries and world tendencies of their development, the basic directions at their modernization and designing of new are: increase of universality of machines concerning performance of various engineering tasks; ensuring integration into a single information system through digital communications, telecommunications and automation; increase of armor protection, survivability and level of mine resistance, which allows to perform tasks under enemy fire, on the infected area or in the mined area; providing remote control of crew vehicles, which will lead to the gradual expulsion of people from the battlefield; automation of all engineering tasks; increase of ergonomic qualities (comfort and convenience); equipping engineering machines with weapons (for self-defense), means of camouflage and protection against reconnaissance and electronic warfare; equipping with the latest non-traditional equipment for demining; making machines using dual (civil and military) technologies. Each of the MEMs has its own advantages and disadvantages, therefore the purpose of this article is their comparative analysis to determine the most efficient in terms of functional purpose in terms of performing tasks in the OUS zone (ATO) and further development and modernization. and robotization of the engineering weapons park using the latest technologies.
