“…Our study shows that attitudes are a significant determinant of behavioral intentions. This finding is consistent with previous studies ( Botetzagias et al., 2015 ; Cordano and Frieze, 2000 ; Khan et al., 2019b ; Papagiannakis and Lioukas, 2012 ; Singh et al., 2018 ; Thoradeniya et al., 2015 ). It is worth noting that in our study attitudes yielded the strongest relationship with behavioral intentions as compared to subjective norms and perceived behavioral control.…”

Therefore, the difference in a sample may explain why some studies, like our study, find a positive and strong relationship between perceived behavioral control and behavioral intentions ( Ajzen, 1991 ; Botetzagias et al., 2015 ; Khan et al., 2019b ; Thoradeniya et al., 2015 ), whereas other studies did not find such a relation. In our study, 67% of respondents showed a positive aggregative perceived behavioral control.…”

Khan et al [40] selected 243 residents of a Pakistani metropolis as the research objects, and analyzed the influencing factors that affected their plastic waste recycling behavior. At the community and regional levels, Starr et al [41] analyzed the influencing factors of municipal recycling in Massachusetts, USA.…”
