Mapping of seed quality traits in the C genome of Brassica napus by using a population carrying genome content of B. oleracea and their effect on other traits

Abstract: Increasing seed oil and protein contents and reducing the content of seed glucosinolates (GSLs) in Brassica oilseed crops are important objectives in breeding. By using an oilseed rape (B. napus L.) doubled-haploid (DH) population carrying genome content introgressed from Chinese kale (B. oleracea L.), we mapped quantitative trait loci (QTL) for these seed quality traits and investigated their effect on other traits including seed yield. A stable QTL for seed oil content was identified on chromosome C5 at 40-4… Show more

“…The SNPs of the C5 QTL that we detected in the present study is located at about 45 Mb position; therefore, the C5 QTL that we detected in the present study could be the same as the one reported by Behnke et al. (2018) and Rahman and Kebede (2021) (Figure 4).…”

“…Genotypic data of the 88 DH lines obtained by using 113 SSR (Rahman et al 2017(Rahman et al , 2021 (Nikzad et al 2019) and 8,091 SNP markers were used to estimate genetic similarity between all possible pairs of lines of these two populations. The SNP data of the inbred population was obtained by using targeted genotyping by sequencing (tGBS) technique (Nikzad 2020).…”

“…Brassica napus ( B. napus ) is a worldwide oil crop, which is one of the important edible oils for human consumption and as a raw material for the biofuel and pharmaceutical industry [ 23 25 ]. Therefore, increasing the oil content of seeds is very important for geneticists and breeders, and has become a major subject of oil crop research [ 26 28 ]. In B. napus , LACSs play pivotal roles in lipid biosynthesis and oil accumulation [ 7 , 29 31 ].…”
