“…Each year, the Journal of Human Lactation dedicates an issue to the state of our science. The science of lactation is still a relatively young field of inquiry (Baransel et al, 2023) and is at its best when it is inclusive of a broad and diverse union of methodologies—a full system of knowledge that brings together all researchers, and all forms of learning. Our intention with this issue is to provide an opportunity for our community of researchers and writers to look at the edges of their areas of interest and to show us/our readers what is known and what is still needed in order to support progress in each particular specialty area.…”
