Abstract: Nitrogen fixation by the diazotrophic cyanobacterium Trichodesmium contributes up to 50% of the bioavailable nitrogen in the ocean. N2 fixation by Trichodesmium is limited by the availability of nutrients, such as iron (Fe) and phosphorus (P).
