“…In the series of Ward-McQuaid et al recurrent bleeding was three times more likely in patients with a gastric ulcer than in those with an acute erosion. Levrat et al (1962) showed that in a series of 500 patients there was a 12 % mortality in those bleeding from a gastric ulcer and a 4.7% mortality in those bleeding from a duodenal ulcer, and a similar difference was noted by Kozoll and Meyer (1963a).…”
