Industry 4.0 includes digital process transformation, information technology (IT) development, mobile devices, learning software, automation, and robotics, as well as intelligent sensors to collect large datasets, store, analyze, and use them in business, including simulation, virtual reality, and digital twins. The aim of the paper is to characterize the readiness of the enterprise to use Industry 4.0. In the research, a questionnaire survey was carried out on a sample of 276 enterprises mainly from the manufacturing industry. Using explorative factor analysis, the index of Industry 4.0 (VPi4) was designed to determine the level of Industry 4.0 implementation in the enterprises. The results were further verified by a statistical analysis, using Mann–Whitney test and correlation coefficients. The results indicate that the VPi4 index was consistent in terms of distribution when comparing the results on the verification sample. Its results correlate with the subjective perception of the enterprises, and different levels of the index reflect the difference in technological intensity of the industry. The VPi4 index enables the enterprises to determine their own level of current state of readiness for Industry 4.0, to better prioritize business development. The proposed solution categorizes Industry 4.0 components into a useful theoretical framework. Further research offers the possibility of applying the index in other sectors, its relation to the size of enterprises, and updating with respect to new trends in information technology.

The firms, that understand the importance of Industry 4.0, which has the potential to change the competitive balances to a large extent, have attempted to shape their strategies within the framework of the new industrial revolution, make investments, and improve their practices. The first thing to do in terms of companies and sectors is the determination of the levels of preparation for this revolution. Only after determining the maturity levels, road maps can be prepared, resources can be allocated to this issue and implemented. This study was carried out in order to have an idea about the Industry 4.0 maturity levels of the companies, In particular, in order to determine the Industry 4.0 maturity levels and weaknesses and strengths of the companies in Sivas. In the study, the maturity model consisting of 6 dimensions, 37 sub-dimensions and 4 evaluation levels named "An Industry 4.0 Readiness Assessment Tool" was used. The application of the model, which was reorganized and turned into a questionnaire, was applied to manufacturing companies in the Sivas organized industrial zone. Descriptive statistics used in the evaluation of the original maturity model were used in the data obtained. The maturity model dimensions and dimensions were evaluated according to the demographic data of the companies and the findings were interpreted. Considering all the dimensions in the maturity model, it was found that the firms participating in the study were at a level below the middle level in terms of Industry 4.0 preparation. It can be said that companies are the most prepared in terms of dimension of Products and Services, and they are the least prepared in terms of dimensions of Production and Operations, Strategy and Organization.

Rising complexity in industrial asset and maintenance management due to more volatile business environments and megatrends like Industry 4.0 has led to the need for a new perspective on these management domains. The Lean Smart Maintenance (LSM) philosophy, which focuses on both the efficient (lean) and the learning (smart) organization was introduced during the past few years, and a corresponding maturity model (MM) has been developed to guide organizations on their way to asset and maintenance excellence. This paper discusses use cases, in which the usability and the generic aspect of the LSM MM are validated by using data from three different asset management assessment projects in organizations with different types of production. Research results show that the LSM MM can be used as a basis for management system improvement, independent of production types such as one-of-a-kind industry, mass production and continuous production.
