MCFM for the Tevatron and the LHC

Abstract: A summary is given of the current status of the next-to-leading order (NLO) parton-level integrator MCFM. Some details are given about the Higgs + 2-jet process and the production and decay of $t \bar{t}$, both of which have recently been added to the code. Using MCFM, comparisons between the Tevatron running at $\sqrt{s}=2$~TeV and the LHC running at $\sqrt{s}=7$~TeV are made for standard model process including the production of Higgs bosons. The case for running the Tevatron until 16fb$^{-1}$ are accumulate… Show more

“…The CMS measurements [12] of W þ charm used in the present analysis are obtained for the transverse momenta of the lepton from W-decay larger than 35 GeV. The cross sections of W þ charm production at CMS are determined at the parton level and the theory predictions for the CMS measurements used in the present analysis are calculated at NLO by using the MCFM program [50,51] interfaced to APPLGRID [52]. The ATLAS measurement [13] of associated W þ charm production is performed at the hadron level taking the transverse momentum of the W-decay lepton greater than 20 GeV.…”

“…On-shell and off-shell events from gluon fusion production are generated with the MCFM 6.7 [24,41,42] and GG2VV 3.1.5 [43] MC generators while those for the VBF and associated production with an electroweak boson V are generated with PHANTOM 1.2.3 [44]. The leptonic decay of the associated V boson is modeled with a reweighting procedure based on the branching ratios of the V boson [45], and the relatively small contribution of HH production is removed from the PHANTOM simulation.…”

“…An increase in the order of 10 -30 is common in the region of parameter space we consider. For reference, we provide the production cross sections of these modes obtained in MCFM [21,22] and HDECAY [23] through the SM Higgs boson in Table I. Although not shown in the figure, we point out that suppressions of the event rate in the W W and ZZ channels are on the order of 10 −2 to 10 −3 relative to the SM.…”
