Alternative sensory systems for the development of prosthetic knees are being increasingly highlighted nowadays, due to the rapid advancements in the field of lower limb prosthetics. This study presents the use of piezoelectric bimorphs as in-socket sensors for transfemoral amputees. An Instron machine was used in the calibration procedure and the corresponding output data were further analyzed to determine the static and dynamic characteristics of the piezoelectric bimorph. The piezoelectric bimorph showed appropriate static operating range, repeatability, hysteresis, and frequency response for application in lower prosthesis, with a force range of 0–100 N. To further validate this finding, an experiment was conducted with a single transfemoral amputee subject to measure the stump/socket pressure using the piezoelectric bimorph embedded inside the socket. The results showed that a maximum interface pressure of about 27 kPa occurred at the anterior proximal site compared to the anterior distal and posterior sites, consistent with values published in other studies. This paper highlighted the capacity of piezoelectric bimorphs to perform as in-socket sensors for transfemoral amputees. However, further experiments are recommended to be conducted with different amputees with different socket types.

Engine performance of any kind of road vehicle is considered a fundamental parameter when selecting or comparing vehicles. It affects a number of operating characteristics including, for instance, vehicle maximum speed or vehicle acceleration. A vehicle manufacturer provides the data on performance in the technical description, however, engine performance value is specified in the vehicle registration certificate as well. Engine performance is indicated as the maximum engine output at certain engine speed. Thus, the vehicle operator disposes only the engine performance value, i.e. maximum value. In normal conditions of a road vehicle operation, several different situations take place when it is appropriate to verify the maximum engine performance value. The paper is focused on examination of the road vehicle performance, i.e. engine performance on the roller test bench and its detailed analysis.

In our country, tractors are required to undergo a periodic physical ex-amination every three years after the first three years, cars and motorcy-cles every two years after the first three years, and heavy and light com-mercial vehicles every year after the first one. In the physical examina-tions of vehicles, vehicle description, lighting system, brake system, steering system, superstructure, etc. many systems and parts are checked. Although the vehicles use braking systems of various types and different technologies, the main purpose is to provide safe, slow driving and stop-ping of vehicles in traffic. Air braking systems are used in vehicles with heavy loads carrying cargo and passengers. In the event of any leakage that may occur in the brake system during the cruise, the part called Four-way Safety Valve is used in order to eliminate the possibility of the air tanks emptying and the vehicle to be left without brakes. Its task is to prevent the parking brake, front axle and rear axle brakes from being stored in separate air tanks and preventing the leak line from affecting solid lines in the event of an air leak. Air brake system Four-way safety valve test is carried out during the physical examination of vehicles. In this study, it is aimed to automate the manual safety valve test using a microcontroller card, solenoid valve, pressure transmitter and PC soft-ware. Thanks to the test device and software to be developed, it will be ensured to eliminate non-ergonomic movements performed by the tech-nician during the test, increase the reliability of the test and eliminate the environmental polluting elements during the test.
