Abstract:Residual stresses in a circumferentially butt-welded steel pipe have been measured and numerically predicted. The pipe, containing the circumferential weld, has an outer diameter of 290mm and a wall thickness of 55mm, typical of components in power generation plants.Residual stresses have been measured using the X-ray diffraction and deep-hole drilling techniques. Good correlation has been demonstrated with the predictions of an axisymmetric thermo-mechanical finite element model. The paper demonstrates that a… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
