Mecanismes de lleves conjugades amb palpador de corrons. Aportació a l'estudi de la fallada per fatiga superficial

Abstract

This thesis presents the dynamic study of conjugate cam mechanisms with rollers follower and translational movement, to design them with the aim of retard the surface fatigue failure in the rollers. The premature failure of the rollers appears in some mechanisms that belong to the industry Sàbat Lligats Metàl·lics S. L. For this purpose, a dynamic model of lumped parameters that considers the elasticity of the solids is developed for a conjugate cam mechanism with rollers follower and translational movement. 
 An important issue of the dynamic model is the characterization of the higher pair ¿theoretical point contact or line contact¿ existing between a cam and a roller follower. In the case of theoretical point contact, the formulation of elliptical point contact is applied. To validate this formulation applied in the dynamic model, a test bed is constructed. By means of the test bed the theoretical contact ellipse is measured with the ink Blue Prussian in the higher pair between a cylinder ¿a cam locally can be approximated to a cylinder¿ and a crowned roller follower. The experimentally measured results show the same differences from theoretical values of other experimental methods of measurement. Values of common deformation and contact pressures for different typologies of rollers ¿crowned and cylindrical¿ are calculated analytically and it is concluded that crowned rollers are the most appropriated for conjugate cam mechanisms.
 Previous to the dynamic analysis of conjugate cam mechanism, a study is carried out to determine the influence of motion law¿s parameters and geometrical parameters of the mechanism in retarding the surface fatigue failure of a roller follower. For this reason, two new geometrical indices are added to the common indices ¿maximum pressure angle and minimum convex radius of curvature of the pitch curve¿ calculated during the validation phase of cam profile. The first new index relates the angles rotated by a cam and a roller. The second new index analyzes the incidence of the local geometry at the contact pressures. A catalogue of graphics, depending on the motion law¿s parameters and geometric parameters of the mechanism, are developed for these four geometrical indices. This study is valid for the synthesis of cam roller follower mechanism with form and force closure of the higher pair.
 The developed dynamic model for the conjugate cam mechanism with rollers follower and translational movement designed using a planned interference fit, is applied to define an objective design interference fit to achieve the appropriate dynamic behaviour in terms of contact forces, contact pressures, basic rating life of the rollers, lubrication conditions and analyze the surface fatigue failure of the rollers. Through various statistical analyses, it is concluded that using a planned interference fit and considering standard manufacturing and assembly errors, it is difficult to achieve conjugate cam mechanisms always with the appropriate dynamic behaviour. Therefore a setup process is required, which is effective but laborious. The study of the effect of the interference fit in the dynamic behaviour of the mechanism is complemented using interferences deduced from experimental measurements of manufacturing and assembly errors.Finally, the dynamic behaviour of a new design for the conjugate cam mechanism is analyzed. In this new design, the closure of the higher pairs is done combining form/force strategies to retard surface fatigue failure of the rollers. The analysis of this new design for the mechanism reveals that it is not necessary to use high stiff springs while enough preload force is provided. La tesi que es presenta tracta l’estudi dinàmic dels mecanismes de lleves conjugades amb palpador de corrons i moviment de translació, per dissenyar-los amb la finalitat d’endarrerir la fallada per fatiga superficial dels corrons. La fallada prematura dels corrons s’ha detectat en alguns dels mecanismes utilitzats per l’empresa Sàbat Lligats Metàl·lics S. L. Per a un mecanisme de lleves conjugades amb palpador de corrons i moviment de translació, s’ha plantejat un model dinàmic de paràmetres concentrats que considera l’elasticitat dels sòlids.
 Un aspecte rellevant del model dinàmic és la caracterització que es fa del parell superior –contacte teòric puntual o lineal– entre una lleva i un palpador de corró. En el cas del contacte teòric puntual s’utilitza la formulació del contacte puntual el·líptic. Per validar la formulació utilitzada en el model dinàmic s’ha construït un banc d’assaig. Amb aquest s’ha mesurat l’el·lipse de contacte teòrica prevista mitjançant Blau de Prússia en l’enllaç entre un cilindre –ja que una lleva localment s’hi aproxima– i un palpador de corró bombat. Els resultats mesurats experimentalment presenten les mateixes diferències respecte dels valors teòrics que d’altres mètodes de mesura experimentals. S’han calculat analíticament valors de deformacions conjuntes i pressions de contacte per a diferents tipologies de corrons –bombats i cilíndrics– i es conclou que per a mecanismes de lleves conjugades, els corrons bombats són els més adients. 
 Un estudi previ a l’anàlisi dinàmica del mecanisme de lleves conjugades ha consistit en determinar la influència dels paràmetres de la llei de desplaçament i dels paràmetres geomètrics del mecanisme a l’hora d’endarrerir la fallada per fatiga superficial en un palpador de corró. Per a això s’han definit dos índexs geomètrics nous que complementen als dos índexs habituals –angle de pressió màxim i el mínim radi de curvatura convex de la corba de pas– calculats durant l’etapa de comprovació del perfil d’una lleva. El primer nou índex relaciona l’angle girat per una lleva i l’angle girat per un corró. El segon nou índex analitza la incidència de la geometria local en les pressions de contacte. Per a aquests quatre índexs geomètrics s’ha desenvolupat un catàleg de gràfics. Aquest estudi és vàlid per a la síntesi de mecanismes de lleva i palpador de corró amb el tancament del parell superior tant per forma com per força. 
 El model dinàmic plantejat per al mecanisme analitzat de lleves conjugades amb palpador de corrons i moviment de translació dissenyat planificant un ajust per interferència, s’ha utilitzat per definir un rang d’interferències objectiu de disseny per aconseguir el comportament dinàmic adequat en quant a forces de contacte, pressions de contacte, vida nominal dels corrons, condicions de lubricació i analitzar la fallada per fatiga superficial dels corrons. Mitjançant anàlisis estadístiques es conclou que, considerant valors estàndard de fabricació i muntatge, és difícil aconseguir mecanismes de lleves conjugades amb un ajust per interferència que sempre tinguin el comportament dinàmic adequat. Per tant es requereixen processos de posada a punt que són eficaços però laboriosos. L’estudi de l’efecte de la interferència en el comportament dinàmic del mecanisme es complementa utilitzant interferències deduïdes de mesures experimentals d’errors de fabricació i muntatge. Finalment s’ha analitzat el comportament dinàmic d’un nou disseny per al mecanisme de lleves conjugades. En aquest nou disseny s’utilitza el tancament dels parells superiors combinant les estratègies de forma/força per endarrerir la fallada per fatiga superficial dels corrons. L’anàlisi d’aquest nou disseny del mecanisme ha permès determinar que no és necessari utilitzar molles d’alta rigidesa sempre i quan s’asseguri suficient precàrrega.
