Mechanical and Thermal Performance of Ceramic and Nickel Superalloys Composites for Gas Turbine Blade Applications

Abstract: Turbines transform thermal energy into work. Traditionally nickel superalloys are used for the turbine blades. In the present paper five ceramic matrix composite materials are investigated as alternatives. The first phase of a rotor blade gas turbine has been structurally and thermally examined in the current work using Finite Element Analysis.
