Mechanism Design for Stochastic Virtual Resource Allocation in Non-cooperative Cloud Systems

Abstract: Abstract-Currently, virtualization technology has been widely adopted by cloud service providers to provide flexible and costeffective resource sharing among users. On cloud platforms, computing resources are allocated on-demand dynamically and the application hosted on a virtual machine(VM) usually has the illusion of complete control of resources. Thus, a selfish VM may strategically compete for resource with other VMs to maximize its own benefit while at the cost of overall system performance. This problem … Show more

“…These sensor networks can process various data concurrently by using shared resources in cloud computing systems. The virtualization technology enables us to share the multiple resources more flexibly and cost-effectively [7]. Therefore, it is important how to allocate the computational resources to each sensor network.…”

“…The proposed stochastic mechanism and management approaches enforced to allocate the virtual resources efficiently. In [6], QoS performance is also analyzed under various virtual resource allocations. The proposed method is very complex and it is not implemented in a practical virtualization cloud system with real workload.…”
