Abstract:Despite the success of hydraulic fracturing in yielding large production increases from shale gas reservoirs, uncertainties associated with basic transport processes require understanding in order to improve the efficiency and minimize environmental impacts. The hydraulic fracturing process brings in large volumes of water into shale reservoir formations, most of which remains unrecoverable and interferes with shale gas production. The imbibition behavior in shales is commonly observed during the hydraulic fra… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
