Low or very low quality of evidence suggests that our primary outcome evaluation failed to find support for the superiority of NIBS over sham treatment. Although, subgroup analysis reveals that tDCS have moderate to high effects and could be a promising nonpharmacological alternative to pain control, mainly for painkiller intake reduction. However, there is a need for larger controlled trials with methodological rigor, which could increase the power of result inference.

“…According to our current trial, celecoxib is more successful to reduce the intensity of headaches during the first 3 weeks of withdrawal compared with prednisone. Although various medications are recommended for treatment of withdrawal headaches, such as naproxen 500 mg twice daily, 14,15 treatment should be personalized following the rule that patients should not use the same drug as they had previously overused. 3 Another aspect of prednisone and celecoxib that was evaluated in this trial was adverse effects of both medications during the treatment phase.…”

RESUMENLa cefalea por abuso de medicamentos corresponde a un fenómeno de cronificación y agravamiento de los síntomas en pacientes con cefaleas primarias, principalmente, migrañosa o tensional, quienes consumen con alta frecuencia, medicación para el alivio de las crisis dolorosas. Esta entidad alcanza una prevalencia del 1 al 2 % en la población general. A continuación, se expone una revisión clínica de la etiología, fisiopatología, epidemiología, diagnóstico y manejo de este cuadro, altamente frecuente en la consulta médica general y especializada. ABSTRACTMedication-overuse headache corresponds to a phenomenon of chronification and aggravation of symptoms in patients with primary headaches, mainly migraine or tension headache, who consume, frequently, relief drugs. This disorder reaches a prevalence around 1 to 2% in general population. The following is a clinical review of the etiology, pathophysiology, epidemiology, diagnosis and management of this condition, which is highly frequent in general and specialized medical consultations.
