Mental disorders and subsequent suicide events in a representative community population

Abstract: Highlights This study was conducted in a nationally representative community sample. Mental disorders were diagnosed using standardized diagnostic interview instruments. Suicide risk persistently elevated for bipolar disorders. Suicide risk declined over time for other mental disorders studied.
