Mesoporous materials for antihydrogen production

Abstract: Antimatter is barely known by the chemist community and this article has the vocation to explain how antimatter, in particular antihydrogen, can be obtained, as well as to show how mesoporous materials could be used as a further improvement for the production of antimatter at very low temperatures (below 1 K). The first experiments with mesoporous materials highlighted in this review show very promising and exciting results. Mesoporous materials such as mesoporous silicon, mesoporous material films, pellets of… Show more

“…4C clearly indicates that, in these amorphous films, S r values depend mainly on porosity. Thus, higher S r values in the IGZO films correspond to higher Ps formation (para-Ps and ortho-Ps pick-off that annihilates in two γ-rays) (48). Quantitative evaluation is provided by fitting the data S r evolutions in Fig.…”

“…However, it can be useful to compare 3γ fraction in a group of investigated materials. The determination of the 3γ fraction was widely applied to investigate high porosity materials towards preparation targets in some experiments in order to elongate positronium survival time and its production amount [8][9][10]. In a wide group of organic materials containing small intermolecular voids with the size below 1 nm, determined o-Ps lifetime values are of an order of a few ns, while the intensity in most cases is in a range of 20-30%.…”
