“…Interestingly, from Gadanki measurements, on 17-18 March 2012 (which is just 1 day earlier than the case presented in this report), Taori et al [2013] showed the occurrence of EPBs with periodic spacing in the EPB structures having a close correspondence with the wavelengths noted in the upper mesospheric waves. Apart from these investigations over Indian sector, there had been reports suggesting a correlation between the horizontal wavelengths monitored in the OH emission data and the interdepletion distances measured in O( 1 D) emission data [e.g., Paulino et al, 2011]. The imager data from Gadanki as well as Kolhapur do not reveal any wave event at OH as well as O( 1 S) data which represent~87 and 97 km altitudes.…”

“…These results suggest that the periodic spacing of plasma bubbles are determined by GWs in the lower thermosphere. Several other studies also suggest seeding of plasma bubbles by GWs in the lower thermosphere (e.g., Taori et al 2010Taori et al , 2011Paulino et al 2011).…”

“…For this study we used the keogram analysis to obtain the horizontal wave parameters such as the horizontal wavelength, the period and the direction of propagation of the wave observed by the photometer. Details on the methodology of the keogram analysis can be found in Paulino et al (2011), with more details in Figueiredo et al (2018). The co-located meteor radar is operated in a routine base providing information on zonal and meridional wind velocities which aided in the estimation of the intrinsic wave frequency.…”
