Abstract:International and national guidelines recommend metabolic and bariatric surgery (MBS) as a treatment option for adolescents with severe obesity, but few countries offer MBS to adolescents in routine clinical care. This narrative review summarizes existing adolescent MBS guidelines and the available underpinning evidence.
