“…Among α,β-unsaturated aldehydes, only MDA and to some extend HNE have been studied as oxidative stress biomarkers in diabetes, and they are indeed both increased up to 2-fold in both human (Figure 4) and animal models of type-2 diabetes (Wierusz-Wysocka et al, 1995;Dierckx et al, 2003).
