“…Similar types of cage structures of main-group as well as transition metals phosphonates are known, as discussed above. 35,45,68,70,74,85,146,218,220 A This compound contains four Co II ions, two [HPMIDA] − , and two [PMIDA] 2− ligands. 245 The four Co II ions lie in a plane and are bound by tetradentate chelating PMIDA, along with two HPMIDA ligands ( Figure 107).…”

“…1a-c,2 With tritylphosphonic acid (TPA) we have reported tetranuclear clusters of manganese, cobalt and copper where the copper cluster showed interesting EPR properties. 3 In contrast to the transition metal phosphonates, molecular assemblies containing mixed 3d-4f or purely 4f metal ions are rare. 4 In this communication we report the synthesis, structure and magnetic properties of multinuclear Cu II -Ln III clusters (Ln = Gd, Dy, Y) using TPA as ligand.…”

“…Pillared metal diphosphonates have been exploited as meso/ micro-porous materials [15][16][17]. Phosphonate clusters with manganese, iron, cobalt and copper, show interesting magnetism and strong third-order nonlinear optical (NLO) self-focusing effects [18][19][20]. Homochiral zinc and lanthanide phosphonates display 1D triple-strand helical chains and selective adsorption capacities for N 2 , H 2 O and CH 3 OH molecules [21,22].…”
