“…However, up to date, few 3D networks based on bimb ligand are reported [26]. Most of the bimb complexes are metallocycles [27,28], 1D polymers [29,30] and 2D layers [31].…”

“…In the previous work, the ligand bix (1,4-bis(imidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene) and it's analogs were frequently used to construct polyrotaxanes and polypseudo-rotaxanes structures for the following three distinct merits [17,[38][39][40][41][42]: (i) the bis(imidazole) groups can afford two N donors to bridge metal centers, in favor of forming the extended structures; (ii) the spacer -(CH 2 )-can afford flexible sites, resulting in the rotation and bend of the bis(imidazole) groups to conform the coordination geometries of the metal centers and the POMs; (iii) the rigid phenyl ring spacer reduces the flexibility of the bix ligand, make the formation of the chains more possibly. Therefore, the bix ligand possesses the combination of rigidness and flexibility, which conduces to construct the polypseudo-rotaxanes structures.…”

“…Batten and Robson have reviewed the interpenetrating frameworks, in which only internal connections are broken to disentangle the individual nets [12,13]. Besides, Ciani and co-workers have summarized other subclasses of entangled structures, such as polycatenation, polythreading, polyknotting, which can be considered as extended periodic analogues of the molecular catenanes, rotaxanes, and knots, respectively [14][15][16][17][18]. On the basis of the 'ideal' possibility to extricate the components, the polythreading is further classified into two subunits: polyrotaxanes and polypseudo-rotaxanes.…”

“…In view of the fact that the construction of MOFs depends on two primary interacting components (metal ions/clusters and organic ligands), employing multidentate organic ligands and suitable metal ions via metal-ligand coordination and hydrogen-bond interactions is a major approach for the construction of novel coordination architectures. Among the various organic ligands, imidazole-containing multidentate ligands have been widely employed as excellent candidates for the construction of MOFs in recent decades, examples being 1,2-bis(imidazol-1yl)ethane (1, see Scheme 1; Li et al, 2012;Zhu et al, 2012), 1,3bis(imidazol-1-yl)propane (2; Li et al, 2011a), 1,3-bis(imidazol-1-yl)butane (3; Yang et al, 2014;Li et al, 2011a), ISSN 2053ISSN -2296 # 2020 International Union of Crystallography 1-(imidazol-1-yl)-4-(imidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene (4; Zhu et al, 2005), 1,4-bis(imidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene (5; Du et al, 2013;Yang et al, 2014), 1,4-bis(2-methylimidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene (6; Yang et al, 2014), tris[4-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)phenyl]amine (7; Fu et al, 2014), 1-(imidazol-1-yl)-3,5-bis(imidazol-1ylmethyl)benzene (8; Zhao et al, 2004), 1,3-bis(imidazol-1-yl)-5-(imidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene (9; Deng et al, 2016), 1,3,5tris[(1H-imidazol-1-yl)methyl]benzene (10; Hu & Zhong, 2018; Luo et al, 2013), 1,3,5-tris(imidazol-1-ylmethyl)-2,4,6-trimethylbenzene (11; Wang et al, 2015), 4,4 0 -bis(imidazol-1ylmethyl)biphenyl (12; Carlucci et al, 2008;Wang et al, 2015), 1,3,5-tris(imidazol-1-yl)benzene (13; Su et al, 2010;Meng et al, 2016) and 1,2,4,5-tetrakis(imidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene (14; Hua et al, 2010), and complexes with different metal salts have been synthesized and characterized.…”
