Methadone and Morphine for the Treatment of Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome: A Comparison of Safety and Efficacy

Abstract: This study was designed to compare the safety and efficacy of morphine and methadone for treating NAS. A randomized, double-blind study was conducted at The Children’s Hospital & The Institute of Child Health Multan from December 2021 to December 2022. A total of 180 pregnant women were enrolled in the study, of which 114 needed treatment and were randomized (1:1) to receive morphine or methadone.
