Methane Adsorption on Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotube at (303.15, 313.15, and 323.15) K

Abstract: Adsorption equilibria of methane on multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) were measured. For comparison of the adsorption properties, two zeolites (DAY and HSZ-320) were chosen. The isotherm data were obtained using a static volumetric method at 303.15 K, 313.15 K, 323.15 K and at pressures up to 3 MPa. Experimental data of zeolites and carbon nanotube were correlated by the Sips isotherm and the hybrid Langmuir-Sips equations, respectively. Isosteric enthalpies of adsorption were calculated as a function of su… Show more

“…The other is condensation, such as surface and capillary condensation of gas or liquid adsorbates. The latter presented as deviation of desorption curves from adsorption ones [187] are widely explained by the strongcoupling of benzene-ring containing chemicals with CNT surfaces [188], capillary condensation [189] and alteration of adsorbent structure or reorganization after adsorption [13].…”

“…In addition, natural gas is now considered as an appropriate alternative fuel because of the huge resources of this gas, its relatively low price and its low toxic gas emissions. However, natural gas requires special storage systems (Rudisill et al 1992) because of its low volumetric energy density (Menon and Komameni 1998;Castello et al 2002;MacDonald and Quinn 1998;Lee et al 2006Lee et al , 2007Balathanigaimani et al 2006). As far as storage is concerned, the adsorbed natural gas (ANG) storage system provides a feasible process capable of solving several problems in natural gas storage (Lee et al 2007;Balathanigaimani et al 2008a,b;Moreno and Giraldo 2005a,b;Huertemendia et al 2005;Steckler et al 1986;Gunn 1965;Russell et al 2006;Lerchner et al 2002).…”
