Methodology for creating nonaxisymmetric WECs to screen mooring designs using a Morison Equation approach

Abstract: Lamination between the substrate and the window cover in an Organic Light Emitting Diodes(OLED) display is an imperative technology. This study introduces a simple lamination technique using Optical Clear Resin(OCR). The theoretical analysis of the resin was studied, and then compared with the experimental results for the verification.

“…Oscillating water column converter. Nonlinear FK forces are an important factor, as the variation of the entrained water mass in the chamber depends on the relative motion between the device structure and the free-surface, and so the pressure of the water mass inside the chamber and the absorbed power can be more accurately computed [74]. In addition, and related to nonlinear FK forces, parametrically excited motions can appear in floating OWCs, as shown in [59], causing large motion amplitudes in pitch and roll.…”

“…The BBDB modeled in this paper is a type of oscillating water column composed of an L-shaped duct and air chamber, buoyancy chambers, and a power take-off turbine. 1 A sketch of the device can be seen in figure During severe weather conditions, the device's diffraction parameter is small and its wave height to characteristic length ratio is large; therefore, the hydrodynamic forces on the device can be calculated using Morison's Equation. 1 This allows us to use OrcaFlex, a time domain mooring line dynamics software, to analyze the performance of the BBDB's mooring system.…”

“…Separating individual responses allows for each to be treated independently and in a manner that is consistent with the phenomenon being modeled; for example the bodies representing the buoyancy distribution will not be assigned mass or hydrodynamic properties, they will only be assigned volumes." 1 Additionally, the WEC mass and moment of inertia are concentrated in a DOF, modeling a point mass. A more detailed description of the model and simulation assumptions can be found in the paper referenced throughout this section: Bull and Jacob, "Methodology for creating nonaxisymmetric WECs to screen mooring designs using a Morison Equation approach".…”
