Methods of Reducing the Power Supply Outage Time of Rural Consumers

Abstract: The chapter analyzes the power supply restoration time. The analysis shows that this time consists of the time for obtaining information about failure, the time of information recognition about failure, the damage repair time and the time of connection and disconnection harmonization. Each of them, in turn, is also considered in more detail that allows identifying reserves to reduce the power supply outage time. The chapter proposes reducing the power supply restoration time by going to the monitoring system c… Show more

“…Among them there is the determination of the technical condition of network equipment, in particular, supports and wires of power transmission lines, transformer substation cabinets, etc [1][2][3]. In addition to the equipment state, it is necessary to identify the risks of damage to this equipment arising from external factors and possible causes of power outages in the network [4,5]. As the statistics analysis [6][7][8] shows, the main reason for power outages is overlapping through tree branches, wire breakages by trees.…”

“…The universal sectionalizing point (SP) equipped with an automatic load transfer (ALT) function, microcontroller control unit of the pole-mounted version (SPALT(PM)) is a device designed to perform the functions of sectionalizing and redundancy in 0.38 kV electrical networks. This device allows dividing the 0.38 kV power line into sections and supply power to undamaged areas from a backup power source via the ATS function [1][2][3][4]. For such devices, it is important to choose the right switching device in terms of its electromechanical characteristics.…”
